Parts of the Whole

Foundations of Anatomy and Physiology

At the foundation of our physical nature are the five elements of earth, air, fire, water and ether (Akash). It is from these five elements that all physical existence is created. These five elements give rise to the periodic table which in turn compose our bodies.

Modern sciences still trying to understand the finer details of our anatomy and physiology, and we know we are much more than simply flesh and bone. Even our thoughts are physical and our anatomy includes the subtle energy fields and meridians.

While we are literally made of stardust, we have our bony skeleton that supports a myriad of bodily systems that supports and enables our consciousness to exist and

Chakras Explained

The technology of being human

Understanding the chakras is important if you are going to venture into advanced self knowledge and energy work although simple things like energy clearing do not require any knowledge at all, but it is required that you suspend any doubts or disbelief to allow your energy to work.

Part one

Energy follows thought If there is no thought or impulse, nothing will happen – for all activity and creation, there must be an original thought. This means that after a massage, if you are doing a simple energy cleanse, you must have the thought or better still the visualisation that it is taking place.

Are chakras are cultural a appropriation?

The Seven Chakras

Life – Force – Energy

Our seven chakras

The seven chakras make up the core of our energy or spiritual body. These points are located along the kundalini, a dual energy stream flowing from the centre of our earth to the furtherest space and back down to earth centre.

The kundalini can be likened to an 11,000 volt power line along which are transformers or chakras which break the current down in to 240 volts for consumption.

In yoga class I have talked about the dual nature of the kundalini in comparison with the alternating current of the city electrical grid and its important in meditation and asana practise to remember these facts as this is an area

Posture and Health

Is your posture killing you?

One is sometimes compelled to ask, what do we really know about ourselves, and in particular our bodies? Science has made a great many studies and come to a number of conclusions but are these conclusions correct?

Science and medicine in many ways constitutes an educated guess-work and when what some treatment works for a majority without actually causing apparent harm to most users or trailists, it becomes medicine. In many ways our ancestors had a better understanding of what was to be human in regard to our physical posture.

One of the recent contradictions in modern science has come from the x-rayed spines of so-called primitive or tribal people who live without the

DNA or Deoxyribonucleic acid

DNA symbol circa 5000 BC which became a medical symbol

DNA is often thought of as the blueprint of our body inherited from our parents and then passed in through our genes to our children. What is little known however is that there has been a knowledge of DNA for thousands of years across India and Persia, and this was used to prevent inbreeding within the population. This is known as ‘gotra‘ and families were able to trace their lineage back for many thousands of years.

The way it was practised could also be described as eugenics because it kept the population healthy. In another aspect, it is referred to as karma or memory.

The Woman's Moon

Harmonising the menstrual cycle

The name menstruation comes from the Latin word menses which means “menstrual flow”, it is also the plural of mensis meaning month and is related to the Greek word “mene” meaning moon. This indicates a historical relationship between the lunar and menstrual cycles.

The moon is a symbol for primal female energy as associated with the goddesses of pagan times like Diana the queen of witches, huntress and protector of the wild and free who was worshipped in ancient Rome. Like the Indian Goddess Kali, she is still respected and admired today as a symbol of woman’s prowess and capacity to love and protect. (Details below)

The cycle of the moon takes 29.5 days, close to

Uneven Breasts

No two breasts are identical

The alternatives here are generally to live with the unevenness or to have surgery

Uneven breasts are common and the typical amount of unevenness of most women’s breasts is usually concealed under clothing and a good bra provides camouflage although it may have unpleasant consequences later in life. Most unevenness is unnoticeable unless naked and it’s rarely a health problem.

The size and shape of breasts will change over time as one passes into adulthood, menstruation and having children. The unevenness rarely affects milk supply or the ability to lactate. But no one really knows why breasts sometimes develop unevenly, but these are some recognised causes and remedies:

1. Hormonal changes or even

Becoming response-able

Know your self

When we are young, we tend to think that we are invincible and that nothing could ever go wrong. However in our youth we often pushed the boundaries of life to see what we can get away with and when social life becomes more important than the needs of the body, the seeds of poor health are sometimes sown.

The word responsibility usually infers that you are either in a position of authority or you are someone to take the blame. But responsibility really means that one is able to respond to life which is why the headline response-able is written.

By taking responsibility and behaving responsibly, you can keep your life on track the

Oh Islam

Rising male incompetence, infertility and female genital mutilation

By Egyptian cartoonist Doaa Eladl

In their interpretation of Islam, Muslims have made nightmares of their lives. Most rational people know that Islam wants to control the entire world and is fully prepared to kill everyone who does not become a Muslim. But they have no regard for reason, no concept of insanity and of course most people know that Muslim men have no respect for women who under Islamic law are little more than chattels.

In the ongoing battle between the sexes, an argument that is being going on since Adam and Eve, the Islamic solution was simply to make women non-people and the Islamic culture a

Unclog Your Arteries

Combating arterial sclerosis

It wasn’t so long ago that life expectancy was 30 years but thanks to better hygiene, a regular food supply and modern medications, the broader population is living much longer. While we have to die sometime, we keep struggling to put off the inevitable.

Heart disease is just one category of health problems which includes heart defects and congestion of the arteries. While some people are born with congenital problems which generally relate to the heart muscle, problems with circulation which include arteriosclerosis or hypertension and the build-up of plaque inside the arteries are self-inflicted.

Because we eat the wrong food, because we get insufficient exercise and we live in a toxic environment, about 70% of all
