The flu is a very common and widespread contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses, these cause some discomfort but they can also cause severe illness, and even death.
Various forms of flu are common all over the world. Those most susceptible to flu viruses and complications are the elderly, children, people with weak immune systems and other health conditions. Every year in the United States an average of 5% to 20% of the population get the flu. Over 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and about 36,000 people die from flu.
