Mister God, This Is Anna

Ancient wisdom manifests in a London six year old

I came across this book, Mister God this is Anna many years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. Perhaps it inspired me to devote over 40 years of my life to becoming a little more conscious and aware of other dimensions in life beyond the humdrum found by following the crowd. I discovered there were mountains to climb, adventures to be had and if you sat still and listened, sometimes another dimension and life would open.

Such things come about through yoga and meditation such as opening new doorways and windows in the space-time continuum where real magic happens. To get there one needs to sharpen one’s

Sex Education

One of the many failures of modern civilisation

For most of us, our parents lives were less than perfect. Like all children, at some point during those formative years, the opposite sex became attractive giving rise to sexual feelings without necessarily having any intellectual appreciation of what was happening.

The transition from childhood through adolescence can be a biochemical nightmare for a great many children. They have hormones flowing through their bodies and sometimes uncontrollable urges are so strong that they have to quickly find a private space to relieve themselves through masturbation or some other activity that relieves the pressure of that energy building up inside of them.

As our parents left us to navigate sexuality alone, most parents

Dating and Friendship

An essential partnership

While the social norms in some countries prohibit dating and the allowing of young individuals of the opposite sex to spend time together until their marriage is arranged, in most countries young people grow up with the idea and the expectation of finding true love match.

Like all human relationships there are a great many possibilities but perhaps one of the most insidious is the pressure placed on young people to date members of the opposite sex or even the same gender within their particular social group. This expectation and pressure that is generated creates anxiety and suffering in part because there is no clear discussion and in fact, our socialisation process almost prohibits this discussion.

Conversely

My son came home from school one day, With a smirk upon his face. He decided he was smart enough, to put me in my place.

The Karma of Technology

Will we pay a price for our pleasure and conveniences?

In most families, children are taught and encouraged to do their share to help maintain families and communities. This is natural and they can take pride in their contribution. But in the situation that has become more prevalent in the modern world is that children are being forced into lives of hard labour to help maintain adults who should know better in lives of privilege.

This is one of the darker sides of capitalism where in the case of mining, minerals are taken/stolen from the earth and much of the labour is performed by children were often paid so little that they remain perpetually malnourished and are constantly abused.

Sex Talk

A conversation recorded

My sister Ciara and her friend Sandy were a little bored as they sat watching the rain running down the windows. I’d just stacked fire and I think they’d forgotten I was still there doing some homework, but it was hard not to hear what they were saying and this is some of their conversation.

Sandy: what is it about men Ciara? You know I quite like Alfie, in many ways he’s really nice and I feel strongly attracted to him but he’s really useless at sex.

Ciara: unfortunately I kinda know what you mean because most of the boys I’ve been with just please themselves and sometimes I just can’t be bothered having sex because I’m

A Lack of Sleep

A basic human need

We have not even noticed that the cause behind all many illnesses and disorders of our lives may be a lack of sleep and the amount and quality of sleep has changed with the development of human civilization.

From the day man discovered artificial light, sleep has become very troubled and as more and more gadgets fall into our hands, the quality of sleep continues to change.
