The art and science of living while supporting life

Published on: 23 Jun 2016 updated June 8 2018

Dharma is described as a noun meaning to live by the eternal law of the cosmos that is inherent in the very nature of things. For many people, this may be too much of a stretch of the imagination, but it can be redefined as living in accord or in harmony with nature.

The idea of Dharma arises from Yoga and Hinduism because the ancient yogis were able to identify and relate with nature. Unfortunately this is beyond any people’s ability today because we live in such a consumer driven world where personal identity and happiness is dependent on external phenomena.

But

My India

An overview of Historic Processes affecting India

I grew up wanting to know and for some reason I could never accept what was presented as truth in our social history and my schoolbooks. I also wanted to know the the why of many mystical experiences that I was having and find some context. The fact that I grew up in a remote corner of the planet didn’t do me any favours although in reflection perhaps the advantage was that it made me sceptical of everything.

Like most young people I was confused by the bigotry and double standards displayed by social representatives so I learned to walk lightly. My journey eventually led to India and its chaotic colour filled me

Russia's at Fault

Our tribal culture

Over the years we have seen a litany of accusations, Saddam Hussein had his weapons of mass destruction and so many other leaders have previously and since fallen foul of people’s opinions who felt justified in their beliefs enough to go to war and execute people.

This is nothing new, this has being going on for centuries. It begins really with people realising they don’t know and feeling inferior beside those who pretend to know. The thing about being human is that we live on this little planet in some out the way corner of our vast universe and we think we are so goddamn important that we really know stuff of importance. But really, we have

The Task of Reviving India

Sweeping educational changes and responsibility needed

To the casual observer and the European educated, this idea seems strange because India is a country that everyone chooses to mock without any clear rationale beyond this fact: that Islam and the colonialists having raped and pillaged the country have not been able to destroy what is quintessentially Hindu.

The word/name Hindu of course is an abbreviation of Hindustan referring to the geographic area and not what is seen as Hindu religion, another erroneous concept bandied about by experts whereas the proper term for Hindu spiritual understanding is Sanatana Dharma.

What is the problem of India and why does it need reviving?

India needs to be restored according to the precepts of Sanatana

World Exploration

Credit is not given where credit is due

Indian map from the early BC period

We have all grown up in a Eurocentric world where Europe including the UK became the centre of civilisation after the fall of Rome yet this understanding is more mythological than factual.

One thing is certain and that’s that Europeans love their ideas and on analysis they seem to be almost psychologically attached to them that they have written world history as they saw it conveniently leaving out facts that may shed any doubt on their case. For instance when Vasco de Gama left Portugal in search of an ocean route to India, he had to hug the coast because he did not have

The legacy of Colonialism

A grand deception and a corruption of knowledge

According to wikipedia and many dictionaries, (1.) Colonialism is the policy of a nation seeking to extend or retain its authority over other people or territories, generally with the aim of developing or exploiting them to the benefit of the colonizing country. Then it says (2.) “and helping the colonies modernize in terms defined by the colonizers, especially in economics, religion and health.”

Europe was the last region of the world to become civilised and armed with snippets of knowledge from other places they put their minds to trying to make themselves appear better, smarter than anyone else yet the behaviour of taking over someone else’s lands and possessions is a criminal

The Cost of Progress

And how do we value life?

As a species we generally say that we believe all life is sacred and we respect our fellow human beings. But these two ideas are in relation to the one’s own survival and perhaps one’s community. Every year countless lives are lost in conflict organised by people who should know better. Every year countless lives are lost in construction and the production of our technologies. In some regions, farmers are so badly treated that they resort to suicide.

When we look at conflict, the argument may be over land or resources to create new technologies yet behind this is a small collective who believe that they have the right to send the youth of

History and Collapse of the Roman Empire

Empires are unsustainable

It was only a short time ago in evolutionary terms that Rome was simply a small city-state with no more significance than any other state in the region. Perhaps it happened that traders from India, Persia, Greece and North Africa passed through Rome seeded new ideas that some early Romans turned their minds to trade, usery and the accumulation of power? But its is clear they borrowed heavily from the Greeks in developing a hierarchical social structure, military techniques, arts and culture.

As Rome’s power grew, it absorbed neighbouring states until it controlled the entire Mediterranean region making it as most history books tell us was the world’s greatest empire.

This is not exactly true, long

Facebook Scams

User beware

Some say the world is a very dangerous place and facebook seems like a safe haven, you sign up, connect with friendly people and exchange ideas. It sounds lovely and harmless, however there are criminal gangs, corporations and other nefarious users trolling through all the facebook members searching for opportunities to make a profit.

Some of these scams are phishing schemes trying to obtain your username and password, while others end in surveys and bogus offers to get some of your data. Other lure girls as targets for sexual exploitation and there are some who run blackmail scams. Several have been known to spread viruses and other malware, so it’s important to keep anti-virus software installed and updated.

The Marriage of Children

A crime against humanity

Marriage is a global institution and if we step back into history there was a natural pairing off mostly between young men and women as they reached a balance of physical and mental maturity that enabled them to live happily and raise a family.

It is probable that there has always been some deviant or criminal behaviour within tribal groups but more so in the field of conquest. But the majority of the world’s population who had achieved a sense of balance and purpose in life would instinctively know when the time for marriage was right and this time was defined as when the girl is capable of bearing children and caring for them.
