A mecca for island adventures

cebuCebu is the main island of Cebu Province in the Visayas. It lies to the east of Negros Island; to the east is Leyte and to the southeast is Bohol Island. It is flanked on its west side by the Tañon Strait (between Cebu and Negros) and on the east side by the Cebu Strait (between Cebu and Bohol). Cebu is located between 9°25'N and 11°15'N latitude and between 123°13'E and 124°5'E longitude in the center of the archipelago.

Geographically Cebu is a large area of the Philippines were you will find some of the worlds best beaches and exciting coral reefs. So pack your shorts and bathers as there are 3 million locals ready to make you feel at home and the best time to visit is the cool season between December and February, but it gets very hot between March and May.

Cebu City the regional capital on Cebu Island, it's central and relatively storm free with flights from Philippine and other Asian cities with ferries and flights to other Visayas destinations.

Amongst the islands there are many resorts catering to both locals and tourists. Activities include all manner of water sports, colonial history, parks and nature reserves.


Largely limestone, Cebu Island is approx 22kms long x 45kms wide at the widest point and a mountain range with a few peaks over 1000 meters running the length.

Party of the year

Held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City and attended by an estimated 8 million people in 2010, Sinulog is a religious dance ritual in honor of Santo Nino. This popular dance performance moves to the sound of the drums and what began as a revival of an old dance has brought government, business establishments, schools, pilgrims, artists and private individual together like never before. The festival combines the old dance with beauty pageants, trade fairs and many cultural displays.

Bogo - a small port town with a golf course north of Cebu City.
Boljoon - just over a 100kms south of Cebu city and of interest is the Spanish fort, diving spots like Panglao Bay and trekking.

Carmen - weaving and the Mangitngit Water Falls
Catmon - Mt Tore, Cebu's second highest peak and Mainit hot springs are located here.
Cordova - almost an outer suburb of Cebu city on the south shore of Mactan Island
Compostela - The Caballo street dancing festival in July.
Consolacion - Just north of Cebu/Mandaue City, this is an area to get out and stretch your legs or take a swim.
Daanbantayan - the most northern area of Cebu Island.
Dalaguete - vegetable growing and trekking the Mantalongon ranges.
Dumanjug - on the south central west coast and a village atmosphere.
Danao City - well-known for its gun industry.
Ginatilan - 136km south west of Cebu city and a good challenge for the visitor is to find the Inambakan falls. There are two resorts; Shiratani Beach and Candawog.
Mandaue City - home to the Sinulog festival, north of and almost a part of Cebu City

Madridejos - the north end of the island of Bantayan

Pilar - the north end of Ponson Island Island - 88kms nth east of Cebu City almost in Ormak Bay.
Liloan - just north of Cebu city and known for its scenic pristine beaches and as a resort town, a favorite place for sea bathing.
Ronda - southern west coast of Cebu Island
Samboan - bird watching and Ponong lake
San Fernando - just south of Cebu City
San Francisco - located on Pacijan Island know for Lake Danao, resorts and the Soli Soli festival in March.
San Remigio - beaches, resorts and diving,
Santa Fe - with popular beach resorts and on the island of bantayan, you can get there by ferry from Hagnaya Wharf in San Remigio, Cebu.
Santander - the most souther point of Cebu island, beaches and diving.
Sogod - Just north of Catmon with a good swimming beach at Allegre
Sibonga - 50 Kms south of Cebu City
Tabogon - a country town north of Cebu City
Toledo City - an important port west of Cebu City celebrating women in governance. (Hon. Arlene E. Zambo, Toledo City Mayor 2010).
Talisay City - known for pork production and the October Inasal festival.
Tabuelan - sits to the north of Tuburan.
Tuburan - known for crystal-clear springs, beaches, creeks, rivers, mysterious caves and natural splendors (Molobolo springs and Marmol cave).
Tudela - located on the island of Poro adjacent to San Francisco.
