Super Brain Yoga

A tool to improve your life

Yoga as we know has been around for many thousands of years but it's only in the past couple of years that this exercise has come to wider public notice. In fact this idea of super brain yoga is finding its place in classrooms, medical and rehabilitation centres all over the world. It is a practical application to help people with learning difficulties and for those who want to succeed in life.

We often think of our brain as being two hemispheres and that we either use more the left left or the right. What super brain yoga does is harmonise both sides of the brain so that they work together in harmony.

The exercise is simple, here's how:

  1. Remove your watch and any jewellery.
  2. Stand with your feet comfortably apart.
  3. Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth.
  4. Stretch your left arm away and then grasp your right ear lobe with your thumb to the outside and your fingers behind the lobe.
  5. Repeat with your right arm and grasp the left ear in the same manner.
  6. Bend your knees and squat down as far as comfortable as you breathe in, then stand up as you breathe out.
  7. Continue this exercise up to about three minutes. If you are in a hurry, one minute may suffice and some practitioners recommend five minutes but is best not to overdo it.

Tips:
For anyone who has never exercised, this activity may pose a few problems that will be soon overcome with regular practice.

  • Breathe through your nose as normal, not through your mouth.
  • If you have difficulty crossing the arms to hold your ears, lift your elbows higher.
  • If you have difficulty squatting, ladies can possibly wear high heeled shoes or like men, place an equally fixed book or block of wood under each heel.
  • If your thigh muscles begin to burn with discomfort from the squatting up and down, stop when it becomes uncomfortable and if you maintain a regular practice, those muscles will soon become accustomed to the activity.
  • If you are short of breath, make the squatting action faster.
  • Regular practice of other Yoga Exercises will add to the benefits achieved by super brain yoga alone.
