Keep Out

Once a vibrant modern country, much of Syria has been reduced to ruins, a large percentage of its population has fled as various factions fight for control. Despite all the odds, the Syrian Government survives and if it weren't for the interference of the USA and other gulf states, the war would be over.

Due to the conflict in the region, Syria is one of the most dangerous countries in the world and visiting opportunities are very limited. One should only visit with a personal invitation and guarantee of safety.

Syria is central to modern world history, modern where you can find the so called 'dead cities' of the early Christian era and before some 30-40kms west of Aleppo. Alexander the great left his mark as did the Romans and more recently Lawrence of Arabia.
