Fast Track to Dementia

The drug links

Opinion vary as always, but dementia is thought to be caused by gradual changes and damage in the brain is caused by a build-up of abnormal (amyloid beta) proteins in the brain which leads to a decline in a person’s mental, and sometimes physical abilities.

Much of the research on Alzheimer’s disease has focused on the amyloid beta protein which clumps together into sticky fibrils that form deposits in the brains of people with the disease. Australian researchers have come up with a sound frequency treatment that breaks up these plaques and is giving new hope to some dementia sufferers. However there is still no outcome of research into the cause.

Why Do We Age?

The fountain of youth is a metaphor that alludes to our immortality that has been used over and over in our literature. In our youth we feel indestructible from indulging in physicality, yet deep down we have an innate affinity with the idea of the immortality of our bodies. There are legends of people living hundreds and even thousands of years, but without proof, these remain legends. There-are however many people in the present day who’s lives have well exceeded one hundred years who give hope and inspiration.
