Science fiction has been with us for 100 years or so and in recent years its become a popular means of expression to play out future concepts and elements of the human psyche which means it can be classed as a mythology.

So many of us loved the action adventure series Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, Farscape and so many others because they take us out of our daily mind and into a fantasy world representing a future that may perhaps lay before humanity. Certainly all the gadgets and the technology undreamed up in these movies are inspiring scientists and technicians to try and create such things.

More than just a wet dream

Sexsomnia is a sleep disorder or phenomenon which affects different people in different ways. There are two primary activities in sexomnia which are; unconscious self masturbation, or sexual advances and interference with a sleeping partner.

While it is well known of and very common for boys to have wet dreams through into manhood, girls and women also experience dream states in which they become sexually aroused and even orgasm. We have not even noticed that the cause behind all many illnesses and disorders of our lives may be a lack of sleep and the amount and quality of sleep has changed with the development of human civilization.

From the day man discovered artificial light, sleep has become very troubled and as more and more gadgets fall into our hands, the quality of sleep continues to change. There was a time when people spent 6 to 8 hours per night in total darkness, but with all the modern gadgetry we have today, few bedrooms are completely dark due to the number of LED lights that run 24 seven.

Why do we dream?

We all dream even if we don’t remember and there is no definitive answer as to why, but this question has fascinated us for aeons and oceans of ink have been consumed in penning authoritative works about dreams. Sleep walking can happen to anyone, but of all the sleep states, it occurs less commonly and is more likely to be encountered by watching discovery channel than in real life. Yet like so many things about ourselves we don’t understand, sleep walking is such an interesting subject that it has featured on global television.

Sleepwalking, contrary to most belief, apparently has little to do with dreaming. In fact, it occurs when the sleeper is enjoying his most oblivious, deepest sleep; a stage in which dreams are not usually reported. There are many reasons that we have difficulty sleeping and a lack of sleep over time causes the body and mind to become less able and more susceptible to physical and mental illness. But sleep deprivation is a cause of suffering.

Life maybe is sweet, you and your partner have regular sex, but one night it happens. It matters not so much what the sex was like or who with, it’s just that your PJ’s or sheets are wet and what will she think?

A guy was talking to a friend of his, and his friend said he had a nightmare last night.

The guy says “well tell me what it was about”.

His friend says: “I dreamt I went to bed with 3 women last night”.

The guy surpised says “that don’t sound too bad”.

“Well still that can’t be all that bad”.

“Well when I woke up, I found my self in the hospital with a busted kneecap, my dick had shrunk and then I found out I had no health coverage.


Reflecting a state of mind

We all dream and dreams are essentially the mind re-organising itself or projecting. Dreams can be happy, sad or other reflecting one’s state of mind. Happiness produces happy dreams, fear produces scary dreams and so on.
