Tekapo

Lakeside resort town

Dawn over the lake, May 2016

Traditionally Tekapo has been a gas and comfort stop on the route between Christchurch and Queenstown. Fifty years ago the town would have had less than 100 permanent residents, but today like so many other small towns, it’s bursting at the seams and struggling to cater for the increasing number of tourists.

Back in the old days, working people from the East Coast cities and towns may have had a weekend holiday home at Tekapo where they could go boating and fishing or use the village as a base to explore further afield into the mountains. Today it has a permanent population of about 380 and is one of

Went Fishing, Caught 4 Deer

Inspiration

A wonderful story about man and animals, in this case 4 deer.

The Best Day Of Fishing Ever! Some fishing stories are a little hard to believe, but this guy has pictures to prove his story… I’ve heard of salmon jumping into boats, but never anything quite like this… Tom Satre told the Sitka Gazette that he was out with a charter group on his 62-foot fishing vessel when four juvenile black-tailed deer swam directly toward his boat.

“Once the deer reached the boat, the four began to circle the boat, looking directly at us. We could tell right away that the young bucks were distressed. I opened up my back gate and we helped the typically skittish

Not Fishin

One morning a husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Soon after a game warden comes along in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, “Good morning, Ma’am. What are you doing?”

“Reading a book,” she replies, thinking, Isn’t that obvious?

“You’re in a Restricted Fishing Area,” he informs her.

“I’m sorry, officer, but I’m not fishing. I’m reading.”

“Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start fishing at any moment. I’ll have to take you in and write

Golfer..

A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day, their passions overcame them and they took off for her house, where they made passionate love all afternoon. Exhausted from the wild sex, they fell asleep, awakening around 8:00pm.

As the man threw on his clothes, he told the woman to take his shoes outside and rub them through the grass and dirt. Mystified, she nonetheless complied. He slipped into his shoes and drove home.

“Where have you been!” demanded his wife when he entered the house.

“Darling, I can’t lie to you. I’ve been having an affair with my secretary, and we’ve been having sex all afternoon. I fell asleep and didn’t wake up until 8:00pm.”

A trophy sport destination

New Zealand has a wide variety of fish and game Because the first Europeans to arrive here what with them a variety of what have now become pests that continue to destroy the ecosystem and wipe out indigenous species.

In the ocean, there are broadbill (swordfish) and many other game fish while the rivers provide trout and salmon. In the mountains you find deer, elk (wapiti) boar, chamois and thar for the hunter and in most regions there are specialist hunting lodges with hunting and fishing guide services.

As the New Zealand weather can provide 4 seasons in one day, anyone venturing beyond the road end needs to be familiar with outdoor safety and survival requirements.
