A great internal clean out

Improve Your Digestion With An Intensive Colon Cleanse

What’s the deal with colon cleansing and why are so many people interested in this rather unorthodox therapy?

Lets start with your colon

The colon is the last stop in your digestive system where your body extracts the last vital nutrients from food before it becomes faeces and is expelled. The colon is lined with delicate membranes that regulates bacterial fermentation and the absorption of nutrients that our body needs to function.

The impact of our modern lifestyle

With our inadequate nutrition, unhealthy eating and lack of exercise, our digestive system struggles to cope with what we

Raw Power Diet

The ultimate recovery diet

Joel Wallach and Dr. Esselstyn and many others have proved that changes in diet and nutrition can actually cure diseases. As a result of their advice and other impulses, people have been experimenting with different ways of eating raw food.

Then many people remembered that when we were ill, we were given soups and broths that were filled with nutrition and easy to digests. Many people turn to fruit and vegetable juices as a way of providing the body with essential nutrients, however fruit and vegetable juice without the essential fibre can sometimes do as much harm as good.

Some of the critics of the raw vegetarian diet are that it takes

The foods we eat

Origin, purpose and value

Foods have sustained not only mankind, but continue to sustain all life on Earth and have done since life began. Our foods are classified by the nutrients that they provide; i.e. pulses, seeds and nuts provide proteins, grains (starches) provide energy while fruits and vegetables provide proteins, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. These foods when eaten in various combinations have different effects.

“Let food be your medicine” ~ Hippocrates.

For any food to be medicine, it needs to fresh and free of introduced toxins such as chemical fertilisers and pesticides. But how much do we know about where our food comes from or what’s in it. When we grow our own, knowing is easy but when

Water

The stuff of life

The water carriers

Most of us appreciate the value of fresh water and without it we could not survive. The entire substance of our bodies is about 70% water, but this is more in babies who are almost 80% water and it decreases to almost 60% in older adults.

It is interesting that the surface area of the earth is also about 70% water and it plays a major role in the metabolism of our planet, but that’s another story.

Water forms part of the chemical substance of all our tissues and even our bones, it supports out health, our lives and plays many roles within our bodies including:

Forming saliva and digestive fluids. It

Why Meditation?

A foundational practise

Most people understand that activities go better with some planning and while some things that occur spontaneously can be brilliant, some can go horribly wrong. Meditation grounds us in a reality that leads to a harmonious life and success.

Whatever we do, we want to be successful but sometimes the best planning and our most sincere actions don’t always result in success. But if we look at some of the people who meditate, they range from executives within the world’s most successful companies to ordinary people who want to achieve the best out of life.

Many meditators say that meditation is actually instinctive and this is borne out by the fact that usually before we commence any

Yoga for Healing

Celebrated as a gift of life

There is no knowing when yoga really began, but there is a solid history going back 15,000 years showing how the nature of teachings have changed, yet the essence remains the same. It is the technology of being human that evolved into Dharma and shaped what is referred to as Hinduism.

No one really knows about the people who lived before then let alone what they thought and how they lived, but what is clear is that yoga began either in India as we know it today or in very close proximity, and we must remember that India’s borders have shrunk. 200 years ago Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and part of

The Future of Medicine

And a brave new world

A Tumblr Image

Western allopathic medicine is a new phenomenon when we consider the timespan of human history. No one is quite sure how long human beings have lived on this planet as past knowledge has mostly been lost and what people believe is largely theoretical.

Throughout history, lifespan and health have been dependent on good fortune like food supply and amenable living conditions. As the population grew factors such as human kindness, tolerance or aggression became significant factors.

You throughout history people have wondered why they became unwell, they have wondered why became sick and had such a varied lifespan. They observed that some foods made them strong and some foods made them

Haemorrhoids

Piles and anal discomfort

Haemorrhoids or piles are swollen veins in the region of the anal cavity, (singular haemorrhoid). This inflammation can happen to anyone and the first symptom is often discomfort.

The blood vessels that swell to become piles surround the anal canal and serve as cushions to help with stool control. They can enlarge and or prolapse to cause discomfort, pain or bleeding so that cleaning your anus becomes a problem due to the discomfort.

The principal causes are thought to be an inadequate consumption of water and fibre rich fresh vegetables along with an excess of processed foods.

Internal haemorrhoids are a prolapse of the veins inside the anal canal and typically they swell and protrude

The Cause of Suffering

Generations of ignorance

The Buddha taught that ignorance is the cause of suffering, so what did he mean by that?

We all know that the fire is hot and therefore we do not put our hands too close because we know that the fire will cause pain and physical damage. We know that if we drive our cars ridiculously, then we are likely to crash causing pain and suffering to one’s self and others.

Some of us learned from our parents and avoided putting our hands into the fire and therefore avoided that unpleasant suffering. Some of us however had to learn the hard way and experienced that pain – but we learned. Similarly some of us drove carefully and
