Shaping Humanity

Our ideas and our lives

It seems probable that as described in evolutionary theory, we have evolved over many hundreds of millions of years but over the past 10 million years we became a little more refined as we learned to respond to nature.

One of the biggest leaps in our evolution was a domestication of fire thereby harnessing the ability to cook our food which made it more digestible and bioavailable. The second biggest step forwards was language, systematic use of vocal sounds to convey specific meaning. A third biggest step was agriculture and discovering new sources of food that fostered population increase and free time in some sectors of the community.

Leisure time spawned creativity, improved agriculture,

What's the deal on Idol Worship?

And the Nature of God

There are many ideas about what God may be, but for the sake of argument let’s say that God is the creative principal that permeates all existence. It is God that creates the difference between water and stone because fundamentally everything is made out of five elements.

In terms of ourselves it is the godliness or the creative principal inside our own bodies that regulates out autonomic nervous system, that converts the food we eat into new body parts and energy. In a wider sense God is the light that reveals what is hidden in the darkness beyond our perception.

Building Immunity

Reducing the risk of infections

Our world really is a melting pot of compounds, enzymes, bacteria’s and viruses. Some of them are beneficial and some of them are potentially harmful. We know and this knowledge is backed by the scientific evidence that when we are fit and healthy we become less susceptible to infection by any pathogen.

But building community is akin to building good health fitness which starts before birth with the parents. Assuming the parents are in good health and the living conditions are adequate, a new child gains its initial immunity from the colostrum in its mother’s milk. When a child is young there are a great many pathogens that can cause health problems.

The most common

Global warming

And a climate of change

Milford Sound, New Zealand

Some people argue that global warming is a myth while others live in a reality that global warming helps to explain. In many countries the lakes and rivers that people enjoyed 50 years ago have dried up or become too polluted to enjoy. We know that the atmosphere is slowly warming up compared to what it was 200 years ago and we can see the effects of that in the increasing volatility of our weather.

Rather than seek to defend the argument for or against, it may be more useful to look at the changes in the environment and life on earth.

If we step back into history, some 30,000
