Syria in Perspective

A land continuously fought over

In the land of Syria you can step back to places like the Göbekli Tepe* tentatively dated to around nine thousand BC and we can see that peoples like the Hittites and Babylonians, Phoenicians, Egyptians and Greeks also laid claim to parts of Syria and of course Alexander trampled over the whole damn show.

Syria fell under Islam and the Ottoman Empire before being ravaged again with world Wars one and two, French occupation and finally a semblance of independence under which the country actually flourished.

A country of fertile plains, high mountains, and

Anticipating Obama Care – Now Trump

Originally published in 2013.

Look at today’s news and nothing has changed except the presidential face. In fact Trumps attitude while being praised in his pre-election rhetoric for disestablishing globalism is turning more hostile to the world and fuelling the military industrial machine without concern for human rights or the rights of nations.

If you don’t know by now, the USA has a nasty habit of inventing some attack or atrocity, or even getting its own agents to do the dirty work. The US relies on its manufacture of weapons of mass destruction to keep its economy afloat and to do this, it regularly starts wars.

As the UK falters in support of Obama,

The New World Order

Will not be the paradise many imagine

Every new generation imagines a utopian world of peace and happiness. This is one of the primary motivators to do anything in life because we’ll have an inbuilt desire to excel, to do better and above all, to experience a great on us in terms of peace, happiness and joy.

This is a primary desire to not only survive, but to survive well which also means ensuring the survival of future generations. Unfortunately when such desire is built on the shaky foundation of ignorance and compounded by greed and stinginess, well we can see where that’s got us.

You could say that in part the Industrial Revolution was generated by the desire for

Escalating Insanity

The US out of bounds

In this morning’s news, it is reported that the USA is sending a contingent of special forces into Syria to support the rebels fighting against President Assad. While the US and UK planned a regime change in Syria and other Middle Eastern countries are perhaps 15 years ago it is only coming to fruition in Syria now. But they underestimated the stubbornness of President Bashir al-Assad and the Syrian people.

President Bashar al-Assad is still the legitimate leader in Syria and before this uprising that was sponsored by the USA and its allies, Syria was a magnificent country, like Iraq before the US led invasion, there was a high degree of social equity and prosperity.

Keep Out

Once a vibrant modern country, much of Syria has been reduced to ruins, a large percentage of its population has fled as various factions fight for control. Despite all the odds, the Syrian Government survives and if it weren’t for the interference of the USA and other gulf states, the war would be over.

Due to the conflict in the region, Syria is one of the most dangerous countries in the world and visiting opportunities are very limited. One should only visit with a personal invitation and guarantee of safety.

Syria is central to modern world history, modern where you can find the so called ‘dead cities’ of the early Christian era and before some 30-40kms west of

Putin’s message

A modern stand off

In the debate over Syria, the US and Russia have been squaring off against each other with Russia doing is best to prevent the United States from blowing up Syria.

A Plea for Caution From Russia By Vladimir V. Putin, The New York Times 12 September 13

RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization – the United

Obama's Syria Speech 2013

A modest back down

Lets not forget that the US after Hitler’s Germany has regularly used chemical weapons. From Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan, millions are suffering the consequences of US toxic weapons. The world indeed, is grateful that Obama has backed down and is not acting as dictator of the world.

While the US claims to have evidence of the Assad regimes use of chemical weapons, they have not made that evidence public, giving rise to a great deal of doubt over the actual facts they claim to have as the evidence from Russian officials and others supports the view that the Assad regime was not responsible.

One of the more likely reasons that the US wants Syria out
